Cornelia
Lochmann

Cornelia Lochmann explores in her works the space between abstract and more figurative painting. While many of her paintings are heavily expressive and sometimes gloomy, they simultaneously feel balanced and radiate serenity. Figures, animals, and mythical creatures are found in scenic compositions that create a very personal and intimate atmosphere. Areas of intensely applied color run into fantastical - dreamlike landscapes, in which the protagonists stand out clearly and yet seem to merge with the scenery. Existential themes such as the search for identity and the eternal friction between the individual and society are the core of her artistic oeuvre. In her work she uses various painting techniques and materials, including acrylic and ink on canvas and wood.

Cornelia Lochmann was born and raised in Bolzano/Bozen, Italy in 1985. As a child she made her first experiences with acting as a performer in short films of the film school Zelig as well as in various art workshops in Germany. After graduating from high school, she decided to study painting, first studying free painting at the Accademia delle Belle Arti di Brera in Milan in 2005 and painting and graphic arts at the Kunsthochschule Berlin - Weißensee from 2006 to 2012. In 2013 she completed her master class studies with Prof. Werner Liebmann, specializing in oil painting between figuration and abstraction.

Since 2013 she lives and works between South Tyrol and Berlin. Whereby she shifts her center of life since 2021 again to Berlin.
